Dr. John D. Schatzle received his Ph.D. in Microbiology/Immunology from Louisiana State University, Shreveport, LA. After spending several years in research laboratories, Dr Schatzle was appointed as a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University Of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In 2008, he became Chairman of the Immunology Graduate Program at the University Of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He maintains an active research interest and has many peer-reviewed publications in the area of biotechnology and gene expression. He is also the recipient of several NIH grants. Currently, Dr Schatzle serves as the manager of Scientific Affairs, Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute, Port St. Lucie, FL.

Dr. Muctarr Sesay received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of London and worked for 3 years as a postdoctoral candidate at the University of Maryland in Protein Purification and Characterization. He has over 20 years of Biotechnology experience in the development and manufacturing of therapeutic proteins including monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, enzymes, and many other recombinant proteins, supervising many biologic projects in R&D, Process Development and Manufacturing at Life Technologies (now Invitrogen), Kirkegaard and Perry Laboratories (KPL), and Elusys Therapeutics. Currently, Dr. Sesay serves as the Vice President of Process Developmentat Goodwin Biotechnology Inc. Plantation Florida.



Dr. Becky A. Mercer is the Director of Biotechnology Programs at Palm Beach State College. She earned her Ph.D. in Metabolic Sciences and M.S. in Human Nutrition from Columbia University in New York City, and holds a Certificate in Project Management from Florida Atlantic University. Her research focused on cellular and genetic mechanisms by which tobacco smoke exposure leads to diseases such as lung cancer and pulmonary emphysema. She served as an Editor at the Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI), and is currently a reviewer for several scientific journals. She completed post-doctoral training in the Department of Cancer Biology at Scripps Florida, where she was a part of a multidisciplinary team that identified a novel protein component involved in cAMP-activated gene transcription. Prior to joining Palm Beach State, Dr. Mercer served 5 years as associate scientific project manager and scientific writer in the Lead Identification (High Throughput Screening) group at Scripps Florida. Dr. Mercer is a Director at Ocean Ridge Biosciences (ORB), a biotechnology company specializing in biomarker discovery and RNA sequencing. She manages ORB's grant writing affiliate, DocuCheck Editors, and has published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Mercer teaches the Biotechnology I Laboratory course and the Internship program.

Dr. Fredrick D. Sancilio received his Ph.D from Rutgers - the State University of New Jersey. Over the years Dr Sancilio has founded multiple Pharmaceutical companies, serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of aaiPharma, Jupiter Fl, AAI International Inc, Wilmington, NC and most recently Sancilio and Co Inc. Riviera Beach, Fl. He has contributed to and authored over 13 U.S. and foreign patents in the field of pharmaceutical research and development. Currently Dr Sancilio serves on the Board of Directors for several Pharmaceutical Companies and is an active member of the American Chemical Society and the American Pharmaceutical Association. He is widely published in the biotechnology arena and has served as an adjunct Professor of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina.

Dr. David Willoughby is the co-founder and senior scientist at Ocean Ridge Biosciences, LLC. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California in 1995 and performed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Burnham Institute in La Jolla from 1995-1998. Dr. Willoughby has many years of industrial experience at Nanogen, Inc. and CuraGen Corp and is the author of multiple peer-reviewed publications and an inventor on one issued patent. Dr Willoughby currently manages the operation of the research services business and the research and development efforts at ORB.
