Letter from the Vice President for Mission and Institutional Effectiveness
On behalf of all of the members of the Division of Mission and Institutional Effectiveness, welcome to Barry University! Our division provides services to students, faculty, staff and alumni in the following areas: Enrollment Services, Office of the Registrar, Office of Institutional Research, and Office of Mission Engagement.
We serve the University by:
- conducting and supporting activities that identify, recruit, and enroll undergraduate, graduate, and adult learners
- monitoring and officially documenting student academic progress
- describing, analyzing, and reporting the structural and operational characteristics of the University within the institution and to external agencies
- facilitating a process of ongoing institutional self-reflection focused on the connections among mission and core commitments, institutional goals, and strategic planning as an Adrian Dominican founded Catholic university
Our University Mission Statement emphasizes that the goal of a Barry educational and university experience is to foster individual and communal transformation where learning leads to knowledge and truth, reflection leads to informed action, and a commitment to social justice leads to collaborative service. As a Catholic university founded by the Adrian Dominican sisters, all faculty, staff, and students are invited to dialogue and reflect upon how Barry intentionally lives its Mission. We endeavor to create a campus culture of personal responsibility to foster peace and nonviolence, to strive for equality, to recognize the sacredness of Earth and to engage in efforts toward social change. We recognize that the development of a deep understanding of any institutions mission and core values is an ongoing process and that such growth and development occurs at different rates and is expressed in many different ways. It is our goal that by the time our students graduate they not only know how to make a difference in the world, but why they should make an ongoing effort to do so.
We invite you to explore our divisional links that describe the ways in which the Division of Mission and Institutional Effectiveness strives to support such individual and communal transformation. If you have any questions about what we do, please feel free to contact me or any of the members of the division’s administrative team.
Christopher Starratt, Ph.D.
