On Wednesday, Feb. 27, Barry’s Wellness Initiative Network (WIN) hosted their annual Wellness Day event. This year’s theme, Wellness Pursuit, challenged the campus community to engage their mind, body, and soul through the eight dimensions of the wellness wheel in the pursuit of ultimate wellness.

Over 250 members of the Barry community participated in a fun-filled day of activities and learning opportunities. Participants took part physical activities that included an obstacle course sponsored by FLIPANY, a zumba party led by SES student Genessys Villalba, and a pair of yoga demonstrations.

In addition to the physical activities available, patrons received free health screenings by Barry student nurses and staff from the fitness center, and sampled healthy eats from various food trucks.

This year’s event featured three keynote lectures, all of which focused on a different aspect of the wellness wheel. Barry alumni Travis Ruane (2011) spoke on the link between financial and vocational wellness. Ruane was joined by Barry staffers Jennifer Williams, BSW program director, and Wendy Villetta, event coordinator in Conference and Event Services. Williams talked about linking social and emotional wellness, while Villetta discussed the link between intellectual and global wellness.
