S.A.F.E. (Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange) is a 2 hour program that is designed to educate women on how to become more aware of their surroundings and how to protect themselves from crime.

 

The program is based upon the following statistics:

 

  • Violent crimes are crimes of opportunity, and when you remove the element of opportunity, you reduce the risk of an attack
  • 90% of self-defense is mental preparedness
  • The other 10% is physical

 

S.A.F.E. will provide FEMALE students, faculty and staff with crime prevention information and resources, as well as introduce pre-basic physical training familiarization methods.

 

Lead Instructor: Ed Londono, Campus Recreation & Wellness Director.

Certified Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Basic Instructor for women since 2000, radKids instructor since 2004, Advanced Instructor for women since 2008, and RAD for Men Instructor since 2010.
