CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Four Barry Buccaneers were among the 644 women’s collegiate golfers recognized as All-American Scholars across all three NCAA Divisions by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Senior Taylor Babcock, sophomore Daniela Murray and freshmen Maria Paola Fiorio and Nicky Ferre were selected for this prestigious award.

Babcock becomes the second Barry women’s golfer to earn the distinction all four years (Anna Haglind 2007-10). One of only three players to compete in every round for the Bucs this year, she carried a 77.23 stroke average this season with three top 10 finishes. Her best came at the Florida Blue SSC Championship where she posted a fourth-place finish. She graduated this spring with a 3.603 GPA in sport management.

Murray, who joined the team in January of 2012, played in 11 of 12 tournaments and also had three top 10 finishes. She tied for eighth at both the Florida Blue SSC Championship and the Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. She carded a 77.96 stroke average for the year. She carries a 3.935 GPA in sport management in the seamless program.

Fiorio emerged late in the season as the Bucs as one of the Bucs’ top players. She placed fourth at the SMSU Spring Invitational and added two other top 10 finishes. Her 77.68 average for the 12 tournaments was fourth-best on the team. Fiorio has a 3.661 GPA in business management.

Ferre was the Bucs’ number two scorer, averaging 77.10 strokes per round. She had a team-best eight top 10 finishes, including a third-place finish at the NCAA Division II Super Region 2 Tournament.  She carries a 3.506 GPA in business management.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
