Volleyball Tamed by Lions in Another 3-Setter

SAINT LEO, Fla. -- Barry University's volleyball team lost to Saint Leo, 25-14, 25-14, 25-14, Friday night.

The Buccaneers (5-7, 1-4 Sunshine State Conference) were outhit .330 to .021. The Bucs, who play at Florida Southern 4 p.m. Saturday, had 21 kills and 19 errors in 94 attacks. 

Tashalyn Begon and Laine Cielena each had six kills for Barry, which has been involved in 11 three-set matches this season. The only match the Bucs have gone more than three sets was a four-set loss to Lock Haven on the opening weekend.

The Lions (13-5, 3-2) hit a blistering .538 in the second set. Saint Leo doubled Barry in kill production, 41-21. 

Jenny Trinidad had 18 of the Bucs 20 assists, nine digs, an ace and a block assist. Jasmine Serna had 17 digs. Begon had eight digs, two blocks and an ace. 

Saint Leo's Hope Lemon had 10 kills and hit .529. Jordan Sisson had nine kills and two blocks. Jaclyn Mailoto had 30 assists and 12 digs.
