MAPS members participate in 5th annual Brain Fair for Kids

For the third consecutive year, members of Barry University’s Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS) participated in the Brain Fair for Kids held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Miami Science Museum.

Barry’s MAPS group was joined by students from Tri-beta, ROADS, and RISE. This year’s fair hosted more than 1,700 attendees. The fair was highlighted by an appearance from Florida congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who led a discussion about the importance of neuroscience education.

A total of 17 students from Barry volunteered, teaching children about brain cells, their morphology, and functions. In total, students and faculty from six South Florida institutions joined Barry’s contingency to educate the children and their families.
