LONDON  – The Golf Coaches Association of America announced its 2014 All-Nicklaus Team on Tuesday. Barry’s Adam Svensson, the 2014 Nicklaus Player of the Year for Division II, and Florida Southern’s Tim Crouch were named to the team.

A total of 24 honorees from Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA were recognized for their outstanding play during the past collegiate season. Crouch and Svensson were two of the four Division II honorees. They were joined by Derek Oland of Midwestern State and Nathan Tarter from Malone.

Crouch won his second-straight NCAA Division II individual national title this spring by one stroke over Svensson. Svensson, however, led Barry to its second-straight team national championship.

Svensson had one of the most dominant seasons in Division II golf history. He led the country in scoring (70.05) strokes versus par (-1.59), birdies (140), par four scoring 3.97), par five scoring (4.59) and posted the lowest round of the season for any golfer in the country, 61 (-10) at the Buccaneer Invitational. (Alabama’s Bobby Wyatt, another member of the All-Nicklaus Team, also carded a 61, but on a par-70 course, for a -9.)

The All-Nicklaus Team was created in 2008, and is not only named for history’s greatest player but also a long-time supporter of collegiate and amateur golf. Jack Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at The Ohio State University, helped inspire and create the Jack Nicklaus Awards in 1988. The Nicklaus Award is usually given to the top collegiate men’s golfer in Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA.
