INDIANAPOLIS – Barry University’s No. 1-ranked men’s golf team tied for fourth at the Brickyard Crossing Intercollegiate Tuesday.
The Buccaneers shot 292 in the final round for a 590 two-day score, climbing three spots in the 13-team, 74-player field. Central Oklahoma won the tournament, shooting 290-288 – 578. Missouri-St. Louis was the runner-up with a 584, and West Florida finished third at 588. Grand Valley State also shot 590 to tie for fourth.
Barry’s Berry Jole and Mike Anderson tied for ninth. Jole shot par on the 7,180-yard Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Tuesday’s final round. Anderson carded a 1-over 73, as both Buccaneers finished at 1-over 145.
Grand Valley’s Jack Rider won the tournament with a 4-under 140. He shot 68 Tuesday. Six players tied for second, three strokes back.
Barry’s Nico Cavero shot par in the final round, finishing tied for 17th at 4-over 148. Mario Beltran shot 75 to tie for 34th at 152. Eirik Groenhaug shot 81, finishing tied for 58th at 158.
Jole tied for the lead in par-3 scoring at 1-under. He had nine birdies. Anderson had an eagle. Cavero was 3-under in par-5 scoring holes.
The Bucs will play in the Saint Leo Invitational next Monday and Tuesday in Dade City, Fla., at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.
