School of Podiatric Medicine honored 59 distinguished graduates

Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine honored 59 distinguished graduates during the class of 2015 Commencement Ceremony this May. Speakers included Christopher L. Reeves, DPM ’01, MS ’98, FACFAS, Podiatric Medicine and Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgeon from the Orlando Foot and Ankle Clinicand Louis J. DeCaro, DPM ’99, President of the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics.

 

Augusta K. Dunse won the President’s Award for highest grade point average; 4.0. Dunse passed both required board examinations and for service to the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine she received $1,500. This award was sponsored by Memorial Healthcare System. 

 

Tyler C. Floyd, Philip Adam Jones, Ariel Lepoff and German Mikheyev won theDean’s Award for having the highest grade point average; 4.0. Each student received $1,187, sponsored by Memorial Healthcare System, Powerstep, Vilex and Amerx.

 

Augusta K. Dunse also won the American Board of Podiatric Surgery’s Michael L. Stone, DPM Outstanding Professional Conduct Award. She received $2,000. This award honors the late Dr. Stone who embodied commitment to the profession of podiatric medicine and surgery.

 

Hope A. Jacoby won the ABPM Graduate Merit Award in the amount of $2,000, funded by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.

 

Brandon M. Brooks won the Dr. Raymond D. Ibañez Memorial Leadership Award. Brooks received $1,200, sponsored by the Ibañez family in memory of the late Dr. Raymond D. Ibañez.

 

Nicholas J. Coretti won the FPMA Past President’s Scholarship for demonstrating traits of an active leader in the Podiatry Association. Coretti received $1,000 funded by the Florida Podiatric Medical Association.

 

TaNika Rae-Ann Harlis won the newly founded Dr. Clifford G. O’Connor Memorial Award established by the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in memory of the late Dr. Clifford G. O’Connor. Harlis received $1,000 sponsored by his dear friend, Dr. Imaze Davis.

 

Ariel Lepoff won the Excellence in Biomedical Sciences Award. Lepoff received $500 sponsored by the Palm Beach Podiatric Medical Association.

 

Matthew A. Ward won the Outstanding Biomechanics/Orthopedics Award. Ward received $500, sponsored by Vilex and Powerstep.

 

Daniel J. London won the Excellence in Clinical Sciences Award for his expertise in clinical situations. London received $500 sponsored by the Palm Beach Podiatric Medical Association.

 

Sara E. Lewis won the Dr. William Delavari Memorial Podiatric Medicine Award for exemplifying the traits of dedication and commitment to the profession of podiatric medicine. Lewis received $500 sponsored by the American DataBank.

 

Amber-Rose Morra won the Dr. Irving and Muriel Block Award in Radiology. Morra received $250 sponsored by the Florida Podiatric Medical Society.

 

Sarah M. Shipley won the Dr. Debra Kalfas Memorial Community Service Award for working in community health rotations. Shipley received $250 sponsored by Footcare Express. This award honors the late Dr. Debra Kalfas who was a School of Podiatric Medicine graduate and dedicated clinical faculty member.

 

Nicholas J. Coretti also won the Leadership award, elected by the senior student body, in the amount of $250 sponsored by Amerx.
