Sister Patricia Siemen, Director of Barry Law School’s Center for Earth Jurisprudence, says Pope Francis’ long-awaited encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si’, issues a call to all people to act in regards to protecting the earth.
Siemen wrote about Laudato Si’ in an article for the Global Sister’s Report, a project of National Catholic Reporter. The article is titled, “Laudato Si’ – A Story of Right Relationships”.
“It is particularly gratifying to have Francis issue a clarion call throughout Laudato Si' that positions the church as a strong ally of both environmental and human justice,” she wrote.
Siemen is a Dominican Sister and a civil attorney. She currently serves as the Director of the Center for Earth Jurisprudence, an initiative of Barry University’s Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law. Sister Pat is a member of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature and a founding board member of the Earth Law Center.
