Fall 2015 Faculty Spotlight: Sanja Zivanovic, PhD

The fall 2015 Department of Math and Computer Sciences Faculty Spotlight presents Professor Sanja Zivanovic, PhD.

Prof. Zivanovic is a proud Barry alumna having earned a dual BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from Barry in 2004. She followed up her undergraduate degree with advanced degrees from the University Miami in 2006 (MS in Mathematics) and 2009 (PhD in Mathematics).

Prof. Zivanovic’s research interests include dynamic systems, differential systems, and numerical analysis. Her most recent published paper is entitled “Variable Time Step Dynamics With Choose” and was published in the “Journal of Dynamics and Differential Equations” in 2014.

Teaching comes natural to Prof. Zivanovic as both of her parents were educators. “I realized that student learning, appreciation, and passion towards a subject often depends on quality of a teacher, Zivanovic said. “Having this in mind, I hope to make a difference at least for some students that go through my classes.”

Three things you may not know about Professor Zivanovic:

  1. She is extremely passionate about sports, especially basketball and tennis
  2. She played basketball at Barry University from 2000 – 2004
  3. She is a mother of one child
