PACE attends Parent Summit sponsored by MDCPS

Barry University’s School of Professional and Career Education (PACE) attended the Charting a New Course Parent Summit recently sponsored by the Parent Academy of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS).

The focus was on helping parents set and achieve personal empowerment goals for higher education and career advancement. The summit was held at Florida International University (F.I.U.) Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

Session topics included American Citizenship and Immigration Information, which covered new updates on immigration laws and citizenship; MDCPS Adult Technical and Career Education - presenting information about vocational, technical, high school completion and citizenship classes throughout Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Members  of Barry’s PACE program joined Albizu University and Nova Southeastern University professionals who presented programs designed specifically for the adult learner, diverse cultural ethnic backgrounds, and how to obtain college credit for professional work experiences, community activities and learning experiences outside of the classroom.


The resource fair showcased various programs, colleges and universities and participants had the opportunity to ask questions, apply for financial aid, and register for courses on-site.

Alejandro Hernandez, Orlando Site Manager served as the closing guest speaker for the summit.
