School of Podiatry students take part in medical mission trip

Medical students from Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine, along with medical students from Florida International University, the University of Chicago and George Washington University, took part in a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic as part of the organization Jose’s Hands.

Medical students provided health care to more than 500 patients in eight villages in the Santiago Rodriguez and Monte Cristi Provinces under the supervision of Dominican and American medical professionals.

“You realize how much you have to offer to people who have previously been offered nothing in life,” said AJ Rustia, a student in the School of Podiatric Medicine.
