Students from Gihu Keizai University in Japan visit Barry

A group of sports management and sports training students from Gihu Keizai University in Japan visited Barry University in early February. The trip was initiated by ELS’s parent company Benesse Group, a Japanese-based company that focuses on ELS and correspondence education. ELS provides instruction in English as a Second Language on Barry’s campus.

During their visit, Gihu students interacted with Barry athletic training students, which included a tour of Marlins Park, where they learned about facilities and operations. Barry students also conducted a tour of Barry’s athletic training, exercise science and athletics facilities.

The students from Japan conducted an informative presentation, including a Q&A session about the profession of athletic training, as well as the educational path to a profession in sports medicine. Gihu Keizai University chose Barry due to its well-known and respected sports management and athletic training programs. This was the first trip of its kind organized by Benesse.
