In a nutshell, what do you do?
I work closely with the chief medical officer and the vice president of quality/risk management in developing and maintaining dedicated services for the medical staff.
I’m responsible for coordinating all medical staff activities and serve as the liaison between the medical staff, administration and all other departments. I perform all credentialing functions to ensure appropriate and timely assessment of appointments and reappointments to the medical staff and the Allied Health professional staff, delineation of privileges, database administration and other associated credentialing functions.
I’m also responsible for coordinating the essential medical staff committee structure in conjunction with the medical staff leadership to appoint and reappoint medical staff and allied health professionals in compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements.
What are you working on right now?
I am currently working on several improvement projects with the goal to streamline a lot of our hospital processes, policies, and procedures as it relates to physician credentialing and database administration. This is being done to better align ourselves for future growth opportunities so we can better serve our local communities.
Why do you love what you do?
I come in to work each day with a smile on my face because at the end of the day it isn't about me, it is about improving the lives of the communities we serve. Knowing this, it drives me to do better every single day, not for my own benefit but because I owe that to all of our patients and their family members. That is why I love what I do!
How did Barry University help you get there?
Without the guidance from all the faculty, staff and my fellow classmates, I truly wouldn't be where I am today. Barry University taught me more than what I learned in the classroom; they helped me make the right connections to ultimately propel my career and achieve my goals.
