Celebrating Cardiovascular Perfusion Week

“A perfusionist, also known as a clinical perfusionist, Cardiopulmonary bypass Doctor, clinical perfusion Scientist, or cardiovascular perfusionist, is a healthcare professional who uses the cardiopulmonary bypass machine (heart–lung machine) during cardiac surgery and other surgeries that require cardiopulmonary bypass to manage the patient's physiological status.” (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfusionist)

Perfusionists are dedicated professionals who consistently focus on the needs and safety of others, with no expectation of recognition for the vital difference they make. It is for this reason that this week we recognize not only perfusion, but all of the people who use CVP to save lives. This is what led to the creation of Perfusion Appreciation Week, which runs through Friday, May 11.
