Barry Student Attends MakeHarvard and Brings Home a Dixie Chemical Award

Earlier this year, Barry student Sabrina Meli competed in MakeHarvard, an annual engineering makeathon, and won the Dixie Chemical Award. This award recognizes the team that best incorporates composite materials technologies into their design and final product.

Sabrina and her teammates created a prototype of an unmanned surface vehicle designed to clean up oil spills using a hydrophobic polymer to repel water and absorb oil. The team used Arduino to measure the liquid collected.

Sabrina has since graduated from Barry with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Science with a specialization in Multimedia. You can learn more about her winning project here.
