Barry University Professor Donates Medical Practice to School of Podiatric Medicine

(MIAMI, FL) Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine proudly opened its first clinical site in Broward County, thanks to the generosity of longtime Professor of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Robert Snyder, who donated his existing practice to the school.

“Barry has a long history of training compassionate leaders in podiatric medicine, and I am thrilled to be able to contribute an additional state-of-the art learning site that will help mold future doctors, benefit patients, and conduct groundbreaking research through clinical trials,” said Dr. Snyder of his gift.

The newly named Dr. Robert J. Snyder Foot and Ankle Clinic in Tamarac, Florida is Barry University Foot and Ankle Institute’s fourth location in South Florida, providing innovative patient care as well as clinical training as part of the university’s doctoral program in podiatric medicine. It will be a primary site for clinical trials research.

“Dr. Snyder has been highly influential in the practice of podiatric medicine through his commitment to teaching and his passion for research,” said Dr. Bryan Caldwell, Dean of the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine. “We are incredibly grateful for his generous donation, which will have a profound impact on podiatric medical education at Barry.”

As part of their rigorous four-year podiatric medical school curriculum, Barry University students spend a portion of their third year rotating through the Foot and Ankle Institute’s clinic sites. The clinics provide cutting edge care and treatment for disorders of the foot and ankle and are centers of excellence for teaching.

Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine is one of only nine schools of podiatric medicine in the country, and the only in the southeast United States.
