Peggy Beckley received a BHS from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Occupational Therapy and an M.Ed. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in Adult & Higher Education. She also received an MHS in Health Care Services and a Ph.D. in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed graduate certificate programs in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Orientation and Mobility at The Ohio State University and a certificate program in Deaf Studies & American Sign Language at Columbus State Community College in Columbus, OH. In addition to being a full-time faculty member, Dr. Beckley works as an Occupational Therapist and Vision Rehabilitation Specialist in St. Louis, Missouri. She also serves as a Reviewer for the American Occupational Therapy Association's (AOTA's) Board for Advanced and Specialty Certification (BASC).

Dr. Beckley has Board Certifications in Physical Rehabilitation (BCPR) and Gerontology (BCG) and a Specialty Certification in Low Vision (SCLV) through AOTA. She is certified as a Low Vision Therapist (CLVT), an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS), and a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT) through the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP). Dr. Beckley was named to AOTA's Roster of Fellows (FAOTA) for Advancing Occupational Therapy Practice in Adult Rehabilitation. She has completed research, presented nationally and internationally, and has publications in several practice areas including physical rehabilitation, gerontology, low vision, and human development.
