Peter Brewer was born and raised in Virginia, USA, and earned his Doctoral of Musical Arts degree from University of Miami in 2009. His DMA concluded with the publishing of his essay The Creative Process of Ira Sullivan, which was a phenomological study of the jazz improvisations of Miami area jazz legend Ira Sullivan. Dr. Brewer currently serves as Director of Instructional and Faculty Coordination and Assistant Professor of Music for PACE, where he teaches History of Jazz, History of Rock, Music Appreciation, Survey of Romantic and 20th Century Music, and designed and teaches Music and the mind, a new 400-level course on the psychology of music. In addition, he maintains an active performance schedule in Miami and worldwide as a saxophonist and clinician in applied saxophone and jazz theory / improvisation.
