Barry’s Mission and Core Commitments call us to recognize the sacredness of Earth and engage in meaningful efforts toward social change. With this in mind, the university in partnership with Chartwells dining services are committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
On Monday, October 1st, Roussell Dining Hall, Bucky’s Cove, and Create locations will be eliminating the use of plastic straws. Disposable plastic straws are usually only used for an average of 20 minutes, are not recyclable, pollute our oceans, and harm marine life. The Skip the Straw initiative at Barry will reduce the amount straws in landfills and in our oceans by thousands per day.
