"Are You Covered?"

"Are You Covered?"

It is that time of the year again when you see a charge for insurance on your Fall 2019 invoice.  Are you asking....

  • Why?
  • What is this?
  • I thought I did this already do I have to do it again?
  • What is my insurance?
  • Do I even know what my health insurance covers and how it works?
  • Didn’t my parents change my insurance?
  • Am I even covered anymore?

For help understanding your student health insurance benefits, resources, or your private insurance please contact Student Health Services at healthservices@barry.edu to make an appointment to meet with a Student Health Representative in Landon 104 who will give you guidance.

Please Note...

All undergraduate students taking 9 or more credit hours and Graduate students taking 4 or more credit hours are automatically enrolled in the United Healthcare Student Resources student insurance plan at registration, unless proof of comparable coverage in the State of Florida is furnished on a hard waiver basis. All undergraduate nursing majors, all Division of Medicine, Physician Assistant and Anesthesia students (excluding fully online programs) are automatically enrolled in this insurance plan at registration, unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished on a hard waiver basis.

To assist with this process, all required students will be billed at the time of registration for one semester of the student health insurance. If you have private insurance coverage you may complete an insurance waiver to have your private insurance considered and request to have the student health insurance fee for the semester removed from your account.

All registered PACE and part-time graduate and part-time undergraduate students who are enrolled in a degree program that meet the credit requirements are eligible to enroll in this student insurance plan voluntarily online with UHCSR. Students who are enrolled in fully online programs are not eligible to enroll in this plan.

The Fall 2019 waiver submission deadline is September 26, 2019
