US Department of Education - Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”), Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (“HEERF”)

Subject:  Reporting Required Under Section 18004(e) of the CARES Act HEERF- Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students

Barry University’s Use of Funds Distributed From HEERF-Student Funds is as Follows:

  1. Barry University acknowledges that the institution signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement(s) and assures that the institution intends to use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

  2. Barry University has received an award notification that totals $2,513,699 from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

  3. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants funds distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of September 03, 2020 is $2,513,699

  4. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 4,226.

  5. The total number of students who have received funding through the Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 4,226.

  6. Barry University has distributed:

    1. Approximately 50% to all qualified students and an additional estimated 20% to qualified residential students. These funds were distributed automatically through direct deposits or checks.  No action was required by students to receive these funds.  Total Funds distributed as of September 03, 2020 is $1,684,300.

    2. The final 30% of funds was available on a first-come, first-serve basis to students who qualify and applied for additional emergency relief.  Students who qualified to apply for additional emergency relief received an email with a link to an application.  Students were informed that these funds were available on a first come, first served basis and were encouraged to submit a completed form as soon as possible. Total Funds distributed as of September 03, 2020 is $829,399.

  7. All awarded funds were distributed either by direct deposit or a check and may take four to six (4-6) weeks to arrive. Students are reminded to update their contact information, following the directions below.

    1. To expedite the disbursement of your funds, ensure you have signed up for direct deposit.  If you have not and wish to sign up for direct deposit, please go to WebAdvisor: webadvisor.barry.edu

      1. Log into WebAdvisor with your User Name and Password

      2. On the bottom left side of the Student Menu page-Under the heading "Financial Information" please select the link: "Bank Information (US)"

      3. This will take you to the next page which will require your bank routing and account number information. Please enter your information carefully, check all information for accuracy and then submit.

      OR

    2. If you do not sign up for direct deposit your check will be mailed to the address on your student account. Please make sure your address is correct to ensure you receive your check, otherwise your check could be delayed by weeks. Please login to WebAdvisor and click on “My personal information” link located under the Communication menu. For any changes to your address, send an email to the Office of the Registrar at registrar@barry.eduincluding your complete address (street, Apt. #, City, State, Zip code). Also note: you must use your Barry University email address when sending your change of address request. You may contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar@barry.edu for any questions regarding changes to your personal information.

     

  8.
