Masking Guidance

In line with updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we are strongly recommending double masking or wearing a mask option that provides a higher level of protection at all University locations in situations when you are in close contact with people who do not live with you.

Examples of these situations at Barry locations may include:

  • While participating in an in-person class
  • While utilizing indoor common spaces
  • Any situation where you are around people who do not live with you and are not always able to maintain at least six feet of distance from others

Examples of these situations at other locations may include:

  • Going to the grocery store
  • Visiting the doctor
  • Working at a job where you are exposed to people who do not live with you and you are not always able to maintain at least six feet of distance from others

The CDC website provides guidance on improving mask fit, the recommended level of protection for various activities, and important things to watch out for when improving mask fit and filtration. As they note, not all situations carry the same level of risk and the level of protection needed may vary.

Face coverings continue to be required at all University locations, indoors and outdoors, with very limited exception (See Back to Barry Guide). As a reminder, face coverings are one important component of our strategy to guard against the spread of COVID-19 within our community. It is critical we all continue to implement additional “layers of protection” to prevent virus spread, including frequent and effective handwashing, maintaining physical distance and performing a daily symptom self-check prior to coming to a campus or location.

Campus Services

We are pleased to share that as of Monday, February 15th, Dining Services is now offering indoor dining, as well as Grab and Go, within Roussell Dining Hall. The hall is operating at a 25% eat-in capacity, with no more than 2 individuals per table. Tables must remain spaced 6 feet apart, and face coverings must be worn when not eating.

Additionally, the Landon Fitness Center is now open for indoor activity, on a modified schedule that allows for frequent cleaning. Capacity is limited to 20 people and all individuals utilizing the Fitness Center must wear a face covering at all times. More information on operating hours and important health and safety protocols are posted on the Campus Recreation & Wellness Instagram Page @BarryCRW.
