Community Service Projects

Barry is committed to serving local and global communities through collaborative and mutually productive partnerships. The University accepts responsibility to engage with communities to pursue systemic, self-sustaining solutions to human, social, economic and environmental problems.

We will highlight the interdisciplinary successes of community service initiatives that already exist and use those to develop interdisciplinary projects that build on the strong relationships among student service, student academic success and student retention. To launch and coordinate these activities, we will create a Center for Community Initiatives that will centrally manage our community outreach efforts and ensure that Barry will be recognized as a responsive community leader - a reliable resource for expertise, knowledge dissemination and public service to the diverse communities we serve.

The “Fun, Fit Fridays!” program is a combination of a fitness, sport, and academic/social mentoring program for underprivileged children grades 4 &5 aimed at making a difference in their social capital.
