Karen Shatz is an Associate Professor in the Counseling Program of the Adrian Dominican School of Education at Barry University. Dr. Shatz holds a BA in Psychology from Concordia University, a BSW and a MSW in Social Work from McGill University, and a PhD in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. She is an AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) Approved Supervisor. Her academic interests include postmodern theory, social constructionism, qualitative research and clinical supervision. Her clinical focus is centered on narrative practices and reflecting teams, and Bowen's Natural Family Systems. She has presented numerous professional workshops at state, national, and international conferences. Dr. Shatz's research interests include phenomenological experiences of loss, and postmodern supervision.
