The School of Social Work is pleased to announce that Anne Martine Pierre-Pierre, PhD recently joined the staff as the Director of Field Education.

Prior to arriving at Barry University, Dr. Pierre-Pierre spent 13 years as a faculty member in the Department of Social Work at Savannah State University where she held several positions including Director of Field Education. In addition to her administrative duties at Savannah State, Dr. Pierre-Pierre taught courses in both the BSW and MSW program; specifically human needs and human services, diversity in social work practice, history of social welfare and policy, and field seminar. While at Savannah State, Dr. Pierre-Pierre was the recipient of awards in "faculty excellence" and "student engagement." Dr. Pierre-Pierre's interest in community issues and their impact on children and families lead her to participate in several research initiatives with the Casey Foundation, The University of Central Florida, and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.

Dr. Pierre-Pierre's research and professional interests include immigrant immigration and refugee issues and policies, immigrant help-seeking behavior, human rights, issues of poverty, and the impact of structural violence on individuals living in less economically developed countries. Her clinical experience includes hospital and psychiatric social work and family and individual counseling, specifically with vulnerable youth and their families. She also consults and conducts workshops in the areas of diversity, professional practice skills, and employee relations.

Dr. Pierre-Pierre earned her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, and her MSW from Florida State University. She holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Florida A&M University and a B.Scs. in sociology from the University of Ottawa. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Georgia and Florida.
