ADSOE graduate students nominated for Bahamian Teacher of the Year

Four Adrian Dominican School of Education graduate students were named among the nominees for the 2015 Bahamas National Teacher of the Year award. All four were honored on March 28 at a ceremony in Nassau, The Bahamas.

The four Barry students are all members of the Bahamian cohort and are current teachers in schools across The Bahamas. Angirece Major (Harbour Island All-Age School) and Lenea Brown (Preston Albury High School) are members of Barry’s MS in Organizational Learning and Leadership Nassau cohort. Melinda Green (Hugh Campbell Primary School) and Levette Smith (Bartlett Hill Primary School) are members of Barry’s MS in Curriculum and Instruction Nassau Cohort.

The Bahamas Ministry of Education, supported by the Bahamas Teachers Union, celebrates teaching excellence among its school districts. The Teacher of the Year Award celebrates the significant role of teachers in nation building, honors and rewards teacher for their outstanding contributions in the field of education, encourages teachers to perform at high standards, provides teachers with the opportunity to showcase and share their teaching talents, and introduces teacher to wider community.
