Barry student earns Social Work Student of the Year Award

The National Association of Social Workers has awarded Joshua Holzworth with the 2020 NASW-FL Miami-Dade Social Work Student of the Year Award. Holzworth is a student in Barry University’s School of Social Work.

In an email to Barry administrators, Holzworth wrote, “This is by far the best time of my life. I cannot even begin to describe how far removed I am from all I went through to get to this point. [The entire Barry family plays] such a pivotal role in all the amazing things happening in my life. I just want to say thank you.”

The NASW Florida Chapter established the Social Work Student of the Year Award to honor an extraordinary student who has demonstrated potential in leadership and community service while also maintaining a course load in the university setting.

The annual awards ceremony will be held Saturday, March 14.
