Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System

Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System

We are pleased to announce that we have recently completed the installation of the Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System on our campus. The goal of this system is to keep us safe from potential lightning strikes. This system is set to go live on Monday, May 22, 2017.

In case of inclement weather, and potential associated lightning events, the system will alert us by sounding one long horn blast as well as flashing strobe lights. When you hear the warning horn, you should seek shelter immediately! Once the danger has passed, a second series of three short horn blasts will sound. This is the all clear signal. Once the all clear has sounded, it is safe to resume outdoor activities.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to direct them to the Facilities Management Team and /or the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager.
