Join us for a student work showcase in collaboration with Reporting Latino Art Project

The Department of Communication and the Coral Gables Museum are hosting an Academic Engagement event at Coral Gables.  The event features work by students enrolled in COM-207 Introduction to Journalism.  Attendees are invited to read students’ feature stories.

Through the Reporting Latino Art Project, students were asked to cover a visual artist who identifies as Latino/Latina/Latinx, and whose work brings attention to social issues or celebrates Latino culture in the United States.

Student’s work will be showcased alongside a presentation of Assistant Professor Mariely Llopis, PhD’s new book, Reporting Immigration Conflict: Opportunities for Peace Journalism. Her book explores Central American migrants and Cuban immigration. An entire chapter of the book is dedicated to research conducted with historical artifacts preserved at the Barry University Archives and Special Collections.

The event will be held Thursday, October 7 at 6 pm at the Coral Gables Museum.
