On Wednesday September 29 at 8 pm, Barry will be hosting an Instagram Live event as part of our Barry Banter series.  Leveraging Art & Language to Design a Better World will be a discussion hosted by senior Janeisha Cambridge and Dr. Dale Hartz.  They will be accompanied by guest speaker Yamilet Hernandez.

Yamilet Hernández is an Adjunct Professor at Barry University and Manager of the Studio for Languages and Cultures. Born and raised in Cuba, Hernandez studied Spanish Philology at the Universidad de La Habana, getting extensive training in textual and literary criticism, History, and Linguistics, complemented by French Language and Culture courses at the Alliance Française of Havana. She also helped reopen three Alliance Française Cultural Centers in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; Tarija, Bolivia; and Miami, Florida.

Hernández, who is passionate about visual arts, has worked with many cultural institutions, among them the Perez Art Museum, the Miami Art Museum, and the NSU Art Museum of Fort Lauderdale translating informational and promotional texts about the work of contemporary artists from across the globe. She has also worked to document the history of art in her native Cuba through interviews and documentary films.
