ORLANDO, Fla.— A total of 634 student-athletes, including 65 from Barry University, were named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Spring 2010 semester. Ninety-six students carried a perfect 4.00 GPA for the semester.

To be eligible for the Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00 for the spring semester. Participants in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, softball, baseball, women's rowing, men's and women's swimming, and men's lacrosse were eligible for the honor roll.

Having won 74 national championships since the league was founded in 1975, the SSC's student-athletes have also proven to be successful in the classrooms. The NCAA announced earlier this year that the Sunshine State Conference led all 22 Division II conferences with an Academic Success Rate of 85 percent.

Of the 65 Buccaneers on the list, seven earned a perfect 4.0 for the semester. These players are:

Tara O'Mally (women’s basketball-nursing)
Bryan Chiverton (men’s basketball-sport management)
Victor Billskoog (men’s golf-sport management)
Daniel Stapff (men’s golf-finance)
Evan Ashley (baseball-sport management)
