MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers continued their winning ways, running their record to 3-0 with a 77-50 win over the Janes of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Monday night in the Health & Sports Center.

The game stayed close for most of the first half. The Bucs led by four points on several occasions, but the Janes led 17-15 with 9:07 left in the first half when Rayza Baez hit a short jumper in the lane.

But the Bucs rallied down the stretch and out-scored the Janes 16-3 to close the period with a 31-20 lead.

The Bucs quickly built the lead to 20 points, 45-25, in the first five minutes of the half and the Janes never got it under that the rest of the game. The biggest lead came at the 3:04 mark when Nicole Okubanjo hit a layup in the lane.

Amanda Mageean led the Bucs with a career-high 20 points, while Kia Palmer came off the bench to add 17. The Bucs held a 44-22 edge on the board, despite no player getting more than five. Zuleymarie Sanchez of UPR put in a game-high 24 points.

The Bucs are 3-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2000-01 season when the Bucs went to the Sweet Sixteen.

Barry travels to Flagler on Wednesday, Nov. 21 before returning to the HSC on Saturday, Nov. 24, hosting Puerto Rico-Cayey.
