MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers never shook off the rust from a 15-day layoff and fell to the Central Oklahoma Bronchos in the 2007 Cruzin Classic on Tuesday night. The loss snapped the Bucs’ (8-1) school-record winning streak at eight games.
The Bucs’s trailed 32-15 at the half, but rallied in the first seven minutes of the seven half to cut the lead to one point, 40-39, on a basket by Princess Bailey.
But after forcing a Broncho (7-2) turnover, the Bucs had four chances to take a lead and failed to convert. Mallory Markus drilled a long three-pointer on the next possession and the Bronchos pushed the lead back to double figures, leading by as many at 13 after Mallory’s layup at 2:04.
The Bucs were led by Bailey with 14 points and seven steals, while Amanda Mageean added 13 points and nine rebounds. Mallory led the Bronchos with 15 points and Micha Hester added 10 points.
The Bucs will take on the 15th-ranked Skyhawks of Stonehill College on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 8:00 pm.
