Women's Basketball Earns a Win on Senior Day

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University women’s basketball team won an important game on Saturday afternoon, beating Rollins College (21-4, 11-4 SSC) 57-47 in the Health & Sports Center on Senior Day.
 
The game stayed close through the opening minutes of the first half as the score was 6-5 with 14:52 remaining.
 
Barry (15-10, 6-8 SSC) went on to open up a 13 point lead with 3:25 remaining in the first as Princess Bailey hit a layup. The Bucs stayed sharp through the final minutes of the first half, and entered halftime up 26-15.
 
In the second half, the Tars worked to trim the lead down, getting within two when Paris Moore hit two free throws with 9:05 remaining. However, that was the closest the Tars would come as Bailey, Shanna Suttington and Kristy Singletary hit big threes to push the lead to 45-37. The Bucs would go on to win 57-47.
 
For the Buccaneers, Bailey had 15 points, while Suttington and Mariessa Greene had 11 apiece.
 
The Buccaneers return to action on Tuesday, Feb 25 at Lynn at 5:30 pm.
