Men's Tennis Earns A West Coast Win

AZUZA, Calif.— The Barry University men’s tennis team won a West Coast match up against NAIA member Azuza Pacific, 9-0 on Friday afternoon.
 
The Bucs (6-0) won all three doubles matches, starting with Emanuel Fraitzl’s and Max Wimmer’s 8-6 win over Matthijs Bolsius and Mathias Weber in the number one spot. In the number two spot, Ales Svigelj and Andrew Sharnov blanked Jack Zapala and Janosch Apelt 8-0.  In number three doubles Roman Werschel and Sergio Velez beat onald Chow and Daniel Moore 9-8 (7-5).
 
The Bucs manhandled the Cougars (4-2) in singles as well, winning all six matches. In number one singles, Ales Svigelj beat Bolsius 6-0, 7-5.  Fraitzl beat Weber 6-3, 6-3 in the number two spot.  In the three spot, Wimmer beat Apelt 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 to give the Bucs the win.
 
Werschel would go on to win number four singles, while Fraitzl and Marcello D’Armas would clean up in numbers five and six respectively.
 
The Bucs stay in California, taking on UC San Diego tomorrow at 10:00 am.
