MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University baseball team tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat St. Thomas, 3-1, Tuesday night at Feinbloom Field.

Barry (15-2) struck first in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Nick Shaw and Danny Lima each walked with one out, and then advanced on an error.

Yas Gutierrez plated Shaw with a sacrifice fly soon after the error to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead.

St. Thomas (8-16) quickly tied the score in the top of the sixth, as Lance Larimer delivered a single through the left side of the infield to knot the game at one.

With the game still tight into the eighth, Barry finally broke through with a pair of runs to put the game out of reach.

With Gutierrez down at third after leading off the inning with a single, then later advancing to third and Harold Holness at second, Mitch Rodriguez delivered a clutch single to left field plating both runners and giving the Bucs the lead they needed.

Brian Milanes pitched a solid 1 2/3 innings to record his second victory of the season.

Gutierrez and Rodriguez each recorded a pair of hits on the night for the Bucs.

Barry will return to action Wednesday when they host Felician at 6 p.m.
