MELBOURNE, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers split a Sunshine State Conference softball doubleheader with the Florida Tech Panthers on Sunday, dropping game one 1-0, but bouncing back to take the rubber game 6-0.

Amber Jack (10-5) tossed a one-hit shutout, walking one and striking out five to earn the win in game two.

The Bucs (15-9, 2-1 SSC) rapped out 11 hits in the second game, including two each by Shyla Rider, Amanda Goelz, Jessica Tabor and Sara Hipson. Tabor and Hipson both had RBI singles in a two-run first inning that gave Jack all the support she needed.

Jack set down the first 14 Panthers in a row before walking Tyler Miller with two outs in the fifth, while Holly McChesney broke up the no-hit bid in the sixth.

Rianna Witt (1-1) took the loss for Tech (12-11, 1-2 SSC). She got just one out, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk.

In game one, the Panthers got two hits from Dani Healy and Emily Densom to start the first inning, with Healy eventually scoring on a wild pitch for the only run of the game.

Brianna Barth (5-4) made the run stand up, throwing a three-hit shutout. She walked two and struck out seven. Brianna Smith (5-4) took the loss for the Buccaneers, giving up just the one run on two hits in three innings. Paula Mackin tossed three hitless innings in relief.

The Bucs travel to Boca Raton, Fla., on Tuesday and Wednesday to face the Lynn Knights.
