Pedrozo's Slam In Eighth Propels Baseball Over Panthers

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University baseball team rallied with seven runs in the eighth inning to defeat Florida Tech, 9-3, in Sunshine State Conference action Friday night at Feinbloom Field.

Florida Tech (17-11, 3-4 SSC) broke open a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning, as Tyler Wright doubled down the right field line, which was followed up by Chris Fox who homered to right field giving the Panthers their first lead of the game, 3-1.

Jonathan Cornelius and Bobby Hernandez pitched gems on the mound, with each matching each other through seven innings.

After the Bucs plated the tying run, Cornelius left the game with the bases loaded in the eighth.
Justin Arsenault came on in relief and the Bucs (22-2, 4-0 SSC) welcomed him with a barrage of hits.
Yas Gutierrez walked to plate Nick Shaw and give the Bucs a 4-3 advantage.
Manny Pedrozo followed and delivered the big blow, hitting a grand slam over the left field wall to clear the bases and put Barry ahead for good.

Scott Sexton came on in the eighth inning to record his second win of the season.

Barry will continue their series with Florida Tech with a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game beginning at noon.
