Softball Drops Twinbill To Sharks

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped a Sunshine State Conference softball doubleheader to the Nova Southeastern Sharks losing both games 6-4 on Friday.

In the opening game, the Bucs led 4-2 going into the final inning only to see the Sharks (41-12, 13-7 SSC) score four times in the top of the seventh.

In the second game, the Bucs (25-15, 9-6 SSC) had a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning when Lauren Lopez drilled a two-run homer off Barry starter Amber Jack (17-8). Patty Rivero added a two-run double in the seventh.

Dani Caron (19-5) earned the win in both games. She went the distance in the opener, giving up four runs (all unearned), then came on for the final 3.2 innings in the finale after Lexi Sarradet took a shot off her right wrist and allowed one run on three hits.

The Bucs travel to Boca Raton, Fla., on Monday and Tuesday for an SSC series against Lynn which was rescheduled from March.
