In set one, the Bucs (11-8, 2-6 SSC) worked out to a 9-5 lead. Many of the Buccaneer hitters got in on the offensive run as Julia Ridley, Ady Alcantara, Julia Teixiera, Samara Ferreira, and Stefanie Sveiven all had kills. The Bucs held the five point lead through 15-10 before the Sailfish (10-11) fought back, brining it within one at 17-16. The Bucs and Sailfish traded points back-and-forth through 23-21 before two Sailfish errors gave the Buccaneers the 25-21 win.

In set two, the Sailfish worked out to leads of 10-6 and 15-10. The Bucs offense rallied, taking three of the next four points— all the result of Sailfish errors, to get within two at 16-14. Still trailing by two at 22-20, a Sveiven kill and a PBA error tied the game up at 22-22. Two more Sailfish errors and a Libby Walter kill gave the Bucs set two, 25-23.

Set three saw the Sailfish take small leads of 12-10 and 20-17 before winning 25-20.

In set four, the Bucs stormed out to a 6-0 lead with big kills by Sveiven, Ridley, and Teixera. Yet the six point lead wasn’t enough to deter the Sailfish as Palm Beach Atlantic fought back, taking 12 of the next 18 points to tie it up at 12-12. The Bucs took three straight points with the help of two Sailfish errors and a Svieven kill to go up 15-12.

The Buccaneers held the three point lead through 20-17 and ended out the match, 25-21, with the help of a number of Sailifsh errors and kills by Teixiera and Walter.

For the Buccaneers, Teixiera had 21 kills while Alcantara dropped 11. Walter had 42 assists. Spenser Rigg led the defense with 25 kills while the Buccaneers combined for 12 blocks.

The Bucs return to action on Tuesday, October 27 at Nova Southeastern at 7:00 pm.
