GREENWOOD, S.C.— The Barry baseball team dropped their second game of the day on Saturday evening, falling 5-4 to Lander.
 
The Bearcats (6-0) got out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Devin Ridlehoover, Robert Skinner, and Jordan Owens crossed the plate before the Bucs ended the inning. Lander scored twice more,  in fourth inning when Joe Tebaldi was driven in by Ridlehoover, and later in the fifth when Ryan Mcnulty drove in skinner.
 
The Bucs (0-5) scored in the third when Nick Shaw reached on a single and was driven home by Ryan Garcia. Chris Leon, Julio Ramos and Harold Holness reached the plate in the fourth for the Bucs.
 
Ben Runyon earned the win for the Bearcats, moving to 1-0. Drew Elliot earned the save. Brad McAllister took the loss for the Bucs, and moves to 0-2 on the season.

Baseball Drops First In South Carolina
 
GREENWOOD, S.C.— The Barry University baseball team dropped a 5-3 heartbreaker to Francis Marion on Sunday morning.
 
The Patriots (3-1) struck first when Charley Short walked Alex Lee to open the third inning. The next batter, Barrett Kleinknecht jacked a homer to left-center to give Francis Marion a 2-0 lead.
 
In the third inning, Chris Leon reached first on a fielder’s choice and scored when Ryan Garcia hit a single to centerfield.
 
The Bucs (0-4) took the lead in the eighth when Yaz Gutierrez was walked, and stole second. He came home moments later when Manny Pedrozo hit a deep single to centerfield.
 
With the Bucs up 3-2 in the top of the ninth, Francis Marion’s Lee and Kleinknecht reached base on a single and walk, respectively.   Lee, the tying run, was brought home on a Tyler Boyd single, and Kleinknecht reached on a Preston Shuey single.  Tyler Boyd would also score to put the Patriot on top 5-3.
 
The Bucs had two men on in the bottom of the ninth, but were unable to score again, and lost.
