MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Barry University's No. 4-ranked men's tennis team opened the season with a 9-0 win at Florida Tech Saturday.
Senior three-time doubles All-American Max Wimmer returned to Barry's lineup after missing last season to collect a pair of wins at the top spots. Wimmer and Marco Mokrzycki beat Beau Fieldsend and Bruno Rodrigues, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles. Wimmer also defeated Fieldsend, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.
Fabian Groetsch and Renato Lombardi beat Zach Eichholz and Diego Ramirez, 8-1, at No. 2 pairs. Ollie Lemaitre and Romain Costamagna blanked Eric Bettinger and Teddy Fournier, 8-0, at the No. 3 flight.
Kevin Sielmann defeated Riley Lorenz, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2 singles. Leo Vivas beat Barry Dylewski, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Eduardo Alfonzo blanked Jimmy Nguyen, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4. Alejandro Andino defeated Eichholz, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5.
Dominic Bisceglia beat Fournier, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, at the No. 6 spot.
