Men's Golf Ranked No. 1 in Country

NEW YORK -- Barry University men's golf team, the defending NCAA Division II National Champions, open the 2013-14 season as the No. 1-ranked team in the Golf World/Nike Golf coaches poll.

The Buccaneers received nine of the 14 first-place votes and 343 points. Nova Southeastern is ranked No. 2, having claimed five first-place votes. Lynn and Florida Southern are ranked third and fourth, respectively, giving the Sunshine State Conference the top four teams in the poll. Cal State-Monterrey Bay, whom the Bucs will compete against when Barry participates in the Otter Invitational in Monterrey, Calif., Oct. 21-22, rounds out the top five.

Rollins, another SSC school, is ranked No. 19. Fellow league members Saint Leo and Florida Tech received votes.

The Buccaneers open the season Sept. 16-17 at the Brickyard Crossing Intercollegiate in Indianapolis.
