As you prepare to take the next vital step into your future, I invite you to take a closer look at Barry Law. Guided by the mission statement of Barry University, the law school is committed to your growth and development as a future attorney. We provide an excellent education coupled with a spiritual dimension and a passionate commitment to social justice and community service, all in a caring, supportive environment.
The size of our student body permits close interaction among deans, faculty and students. This interaction is an important part of a complete legal education as fellow students and faculty eventually become colleagues in an exciting and interesting profession.
From day one faculty members open their hearts and minds to you. Skilled and dedicated to their calling, Barry Law faculty hold outstanding credentials in teaching, scholarship and service. As former diplomats, negotiators, human rights advocates, scientists, and litigators, our faculty members bring a level of knowledge and commitment that can be gained only through experience. In turn, they pass this diverse training on to you, the law student.
The opportunities to excel abound at Barry Law. With our Children and Family Law Clinic and a number of clinical placements available, students gain first-hand practical experience in litigation, judicial research, and mediation. Our student trial and appellate teams are achieving record performances at regional and national competitions as evidenced by our national championship in the National Tax Law Moot Court Competition and placement in the Final Four out of 223 teams in the Association of Trial Lawyers America's (ATLA) National Trial Competition. Barry Law is also very proud of the Center for Earth Jurisprudence, a visionary research and education center currently being developed to prepare lawyers for the ecology-related challenges we face in the future.
I commend you on the choice you have made to pursue a career in law, and I trust you will consider Barry University School of Law as your first step into a profession that truly allows you to make a difference in your community, state, nation, and the world.
