Upon graduating law school in 2002, Professor Megale worked briefly at Boston Passante, LLP in Macon, Georgia, on cases involving general business and contractual issues. In October 2002, she accepted a position as a trial lawyer with the Office of the Public Defender, Ninth Judicial Circuit, Orange County, Florida. During her 2.5 years as a public defender, Professor Megale represented numerous clients on both misdemeanor and felony cases. She also worked on death penalty cases as co-counsel specializing in research and writing. Upon leaving the public defender's office in February 2005, she established a private firm dedicated to criminal defense, as well as immigration, family law, and small business matter issues.

Professor Megale has represented clients in nearly thirty trials and numerous hearings throughout her career. Additionally, she was a monthly contributor to the magazine Negocio Es for eighteen months while in private practice. In August 2008, she sold her practice to become a full-time member of the law faculty at Barry University's Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law. Professor Megale teaches legal research and writing to first year students. She is married with one child and has lived in Orlando for six years.
