In her lab at Barry University, she uses baker's yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, to study how telomerase, an enzyme that is important for maintaining DNA, contributes to genomic integrity. Yeast is an ideal organism to study basic biological problems and to teach students about the fundamental aspects of biology.
