Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM)
/ Master of Business Administration (MBA)
If you have been accepted to the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery
Program and you are academically qualified, you have the option
of obtaining a dual Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) and a Master
of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Barry University's
D. Inez Andreas School of Business.
Curriculum Outline. In this dual degree program,
you would complete the podiatric medical curriculum and 24 semester
hours of required graduate business concentration courses. Six hours
of pertinent graduate medical science course work serve as business
electives. You must declare your intent to obtain the dual degree
immediately upon acceptance to the Podiatric Medicine and Surgery
Program.
Admission Qualifications. To be admitted to this
program, you must have received a baccalaureate degree from a regionally
accredited or internationally recognized institution with a minimum
cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 on a
4.0 scale. If you have attended multiple undergraduate institutions,
this minimum 3.25 GPA will apply to the last 30 semester hours of
credits you completed.
In addition, you must score 400 or higher on the Graduate Management
Admission Test (GMAT) or receive a comparable score on the MCAT
or GRE, as evaluated by the Director of Graduate Business Programs.
You may have to take up to 18 hours of business prerequisites,
depending on your undergraduate education. Your transcripts will
be evaluated for applicable business prerequisites. Prerequisites
are offered at Barry University in classroom and online formats.
The Deans of the Schools of Business and Graduate Medical Sciences
will determine your acceptance to the dual degree.
Standards of Academic Progress. Podiatric medical
students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in podiatric medicine and business
courses. Podiatric medical students who earn a "D" or
"F" grade in any course will be dropped from the program.
Students on probation and those who cannot complete the podiatry
curriculum in four years will not be allowed to continue with the
MBA degree option. The deans’ decision to remove a student
from the dual-degree program is final and may not be contested by
the student.

is not a cohort program and considerable flexibility exists in the
scheduling of business courses to fit into the cohort D.P.M. degree
